Nuts and Bolts of Creating a Test Plan
- click on the Test Plans link in the Workspace area
- click the Add button
- fill out the form
- select an already existing configuration type in the drop down or
- add a new configuration type if the targeted configuration is not currently in the list
- click the Add Configuration link
- the code identifies this configuration type in search results and drop down lists
- describe this configuration (see the section on quality assurance for more information)
- click the Add button
- click the TestPlan link in the Recently Visited box
- the code identifies this test plan in search results and drop down lists
- the status should most probably be new
- give a high-level description of the test plan
- click the Add button
- if you are filling out the test steps from scratch
- click the Display link
- click the Steps link
- clck the Add button
- fill out the form
- the code identifies this test step in search results and drop down lists
- select corresponding use-case part that this test step is to verify
- the Description holds the actual steps needed to conduct the test
- the Expected Results indicates what should occur that verifies a working behavior
- the Sequence field allows you to order the test steps in a test plan
- click the Add button
- rinse and repeat until done
- if you are adding test steps from an approved use case
- clicks the tasks link along the top right hand side of the page
- click the search button
- click on a test plan use case task
- click on the link to the use case itself
- click on the Parts link
- click the Search button
- click on one of the use case parts
- click the Add to Test Plan link
- make appropriate changes to the already filled out form
- select the newly created test plan from the drop down
- click the Save button
- do this to the every use case part until the entire test plan is complete
- click the TaskAssignment link in the Recently Visited box
- click the Task link
- click the edit link
- make sure that the Done checkbox is checked
- click the Save button
